Pain and Inflammation Relief

Chronic inflammation is now known to be the culprit for almost every disease state that afflicts humans. Even a short list of these diseases – lupus, diabetes, hepatitis, allergies, asthma and arthritis – can be traced to chronic inflammation, and they're all difficult to get under control. Most of these diseases are treated by allopathic (conventional medicine) physicians with traditional pharmaceuticals such as steroids, anti-inflammatory pills, or even injectable immune-modulating agents. Unfortunately, these traditional treatments are toxic to many organ systems and if taken incorrectly can cause serious adverse effects.

Fortunately, there is now a better understanding of chronic inflammation and its causes. A simple explanation of how inflammation occurs will help explain.

First, when an incident occurs to your body, whether it be trauma, infection or other, your immune system sends messengers to the site of the insult to scope out the injury. These messengers cause the initial response of inflammation that almost always occurs with insult or injury: redness, heat, pain and swelling. Next, your immune system will send a series of messages back to the organs that are responsible for producing the immune cells to further fight off infection. These immune cells, known as B and T cells, secrete additional bio-chemicals which instruct the organs of immunity to secrete and produce many other immune-fighting proteins. These proteins are like an army of soldiers and are sent to the front line of the infection or injury and go to battle, fighting any foreign invaders and/or cleaning up the infection or injury. All of this leads to an inflammatory state.

In the short term, inflammation is necessary to fight off infection and help in the healing process. However, if inflammation continues unchecked and does not settle down (e.g., becomes chronic), then serious consequences will occur. Most people suffer from pain and other negative responses when their bodies are undergoing chronic inflammation. Here are four examples:

The damage from chronic inflammation

  1. In hypertensive (high blood pressure) heart failure, where there is a chronic inflammation of the blood vessels and the heart pump has become weaker over time, the body holds onto fluid excessively to help the heart pump more blood volume to each and every part of the body. This actually weakens the heart further, strains the kidneys and worsens the underlying high blood pressure.
  2. Allergy sufferers, the immune system over-reacts to pollen, cat dander, ragweed or some other environmental or food product by producing excessive immune responses and resulting in chronic inflammation. The symptoms of allergies we all know include watery, itchy eyes, runny nose and nasal congestion, wheezing, hives and more. Some allergies are life-threatening.
  3. The latest science has confirmed that even brain diseases, including Alzheimer's disease and multiple sclerosis, are inflammatory in nature.
  4. Finally, America's growing epidemic of obesity and insulin resistance is a direct result of chronic inflammation, caused mainly by excessive fat in the internal organs sending out inflammatory bio-chemicals throughout the body.
