Cactus Juice Inflammation and Pain Relief

Nopalea Cactus Juice
Natural pain and inflammation Relief

Arthritis, is a form of joint inflammation. It covers many categories of joint discomfort.

Today I will start sharing remedies that can support many of the categories of arthritis including: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid and ankylosing spondylitis. These remedies have side benefits rather than detrimental side effects. Other than the acupuncture, you can find them at the grocery store, and in a few cases at a health food store.

Studies find that acupuncture slows the process of arthritis. So, over time a person will have less pain than they would have otherwise. It is just not something they consciously are aware of. If you have arthritis or joint pain explore acupuncture.

Acupuncture treats the entire body as a whole. At the same time we can be very specific. With arthritis acupuncture can cut down on the inflammation and heat often associated with arthritis, no matter the arthritis category. If a person has arthritic pain in their fingers, back, should, knee, those areas can be treated directly or remotely. Acupuncture is incredibly flexible and powerful. Patients report a lessening of pain and in some cases the pain disappears. It is helpful if a patient is taking care of themselves on a daily basis to help the benefits of acupuncture hold.

Here are some simple, cost effective Food that can help treat your joints. You have to eat, so eat, drink, make teas from these (mostly) common foods.

Ginger contains zingibain, an enzyme that breaks down meat. Adolph's meat tenderiser uses this enzyme. The enzyme has an anti-inflammatory property which is noted by naturopath Michael Murray, N.D. co-author of Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine and other nutritional books. It also is known for its anti-inflammatory capabilities as well as containing more than 12 antioxidants to help lower inflammation. Ginger is not hard on the stomach as are non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAID's) and aspirin. You can use it in cooking, which gives you a medicinal dose (and good taste). Cut a few pieces from the root and pour hot water over it. WALA! You have your own ginger tea. It is available as a tincture and in capsules. I take the capsules daily.

Pineapple contains bromelain a proteolytic enzyme. Dr. Murray, mentioned above suggests 400-600 miligrams of bromelain three times a day on an empty stomach. Or, eat the fruit! Other fruits with the same enzyme are breadfruit, papaya, figs. Just as well I live in the tropics where these fruits are abundant

Use the herbs below to fit your taste. They are all antioxidants and lower inflammation in the body. Play with combinations to see what you enjoy. If you don't have some of them, make the tea with what you have and add other herbs later. Your taste might change depending upon the season, too. One suggestion from Dr. Duke is to use twice as much of the herbs you like. It is up to you, as you are the chef. Pour boiling water over the herbs and let them steep for 10-20 minutes before drinking.

The first medicines were teas and foods. Many of the herbs in your cabinets have healing qualities. That is because their essence is absorbed into your cells. So are medications. Medicine can be wonderful. Everyday food is too because it becomes a part of us. Choose wisely, based upon what works for you.

Don't want to make your own tea? Enterprising folks have products to help you. For example, Yogi company has a Joint Comfort tea to ease joint movement. Its ingredients are Yucca root extract, cat's claw bark extract, Devil's claw root extract and a proprietary blend of these organic herbs: lemongrass, peppermint leaf, decaf green tea leaf, alfalfa seed, turmeric root, celery seed, spearmint leaf, peach flavour. There are other brands as well. So, you can do it yourself and know exactly what is going in your body or read labels to know more about what you are putting in. The commercial Yogi tea for joints does include a bit of caffeine versus the home made tea has zero. Caffeine causes heat in the body which is not what you want to increase.
